The Maids of Petroleum are one of the most beloved traditions of Taft Oildorado. Each Oildorado, local service clubs and/or non-profit groups nominate a candidate to participate as a Maid of Petroleum and ultimately compete in a pageant held the week of Oildorado. The pageant includes several components of a traditional beauty pageant; active wear, formal attire and talent. After judges tally their scores, an Oildorado Queen is announced and reigns until the next celebration.
